Chapter 49

Eliza giggled and playfully nipped him on the ear.  His hand was warm on her thigh and the slight taste of blood made her squirm with anticipation.  The evening was going even better than she'd hoped.

~~~~~
Eliza looked in the mirror and liked what she saw.  She smoothed the silk blouse and tucked it in a little tighter to accent her breasts.  If you looked closely, you could just make out the outline of her areola through the translucent silk.  A wide belt accented her slim waist and a curve hugging leather skirt with calf high boots finished her outfit.  It was getting warmer now, so a light cape was all she needed.  "I'm ready," she thought, smiling into the mirror.
~~~~~

He flinched at the pinch of her nip on his ear lobe, but he didn't draw back.  His hand boldly squeezed the soft flesh of her inner thigh.  She gently exhaled a hot moist breath in his ear and licked his neck.  "If he doesn't ask me to leave with him soon, I'm going drain him right here in the bar," the thought.  "What do I have to do get him moving?"  She licked his neck again and put her hand on his leg.  Running her hand up his leg, she brushed his crotch and heard his sharp intake of breath.  She placed her warm hand on him and felt him swell in response.

"Here you go, guys.  One plum brandy and one scotch on the rocks."

"Um, thank you," he responded, reaching into his jacket pocket and putting a bill on the table.  Janice, the bar girl, smiled and took the bill.

"For me?" she quipped.

"Oh, let her have it," Eliza whispered in his ear.  "It'll be worth it."

Taking the hint, and the bait, he nodded.  "Absolutely!" he said.  "I just hope your evening is as good as mine."  He turned to Eliza.  "You know this is where I'm supposed to ask you to my apartment to see my etchings or something."  He smiled.  "What do you say we go to my apartment, get pleasantly buzzed and have an evening of wild passionate sex."  He gazed into her eyes and she could feel his desire and her heart pounded in response.

Struggling to keep her fangs in her face, she licked her lips and nodded.  "I thought you'd never ask."  She picked up the plum brandy and drained half of it.  She wasn't sure which she wanted most, to feel her fangs in his neck or to feel his hands on her body.  She wanted both very badly.  She was in a mood.  The moon was full, the night was beautiful and she didn't have a care in the world, tonight, except to find a nice snack, and maybe, who knows what else could happen.  She looked at the handsome man next to her and quickly grabbed her brandy and took a sip to conceal the fangs she just realized had managed to sneak out.  They were hard to control on the full moon.

~~~~~
His apartment was nice.  It was bigger than hers and he was on the 12 floor with an even better view than she had.  When they had entered, he'd only turned on a very dim light and then pulled the curtain to reveal a spectacular night view of the city.  The full moon seemed to be parked just outside of the large window and looked almost as if you could reach out and touch it.  Eliza had walked over to the huge window and stared at the night view, entranced.  She felt his arms around her and she almost melted when he cupped her breasts.  She growled with pleasure when he bit her neck.  Her fangs were fully deployed but she didn't care.  He was behind her and didn't see.
He caressed her body, heightening her desire.  He'd unbuckled her wide belt and it had fallen, almost unnoticed, to the floor.  Her short skirt was almost up to her waist and he'd discovered, to his delight, that she wasn't wearing any panties.  She leaned back against him, eyes closed, loving what he was doing to her body.  She gasped as her tension built to an almost unbearable point.  Lurching forward, she gave a small scream and bent double as waves of pleasure engulfed her.  He held her tight and let her quivering sensations subside.  "Oh," she breathed.  "That was good."
He nipped her neck, sending after shocks through her body and stimulating her interest all over again.  "My turn now," he whispered in her ear, his soft breath making her quiver with excitement and a more unnatural desire.  She shrugged her blouse off, and felt it gently removed from her.  He reached around her and cupped her bare breasts, kneading her nipples, making them hard and sensitive.  She reached behind her and found what she was seeking.  She gently squeezed and smiled at the sounds of pleasure he made.  Turning, she buried her face in the hollow of his neck.  Unable to resist, she nicked him with a fang and sucked, feeling a welcome trickle of blood.
"Oh, you are a vicious little biter, aren't you?" he said, pushing her back.  His eyes widened and he breathed, "Oh shit," as he saw her fangs and blood trickling down her chin.  Eliza smiled at him and stroked his cheek.  His eyes took in her pale beauty and he remembered holding her quivering body just a few moments ago.  He wanted her more than he'd ever wanted any woman in his life and he feared her more than anything he'd ever seen.  "What now?" he asked in a husky voice.
Eliza smiled.  "We party, she replied."
He gave a nervous laugh.  "Ok, but I really didn't plan on being on the menu."  He gazed into her eyes.  She was beautiful and her heavy lidded appearance was anything but threatening.  He felt her breathing and he drank in her beauty.  "Damn, I want you," he croaked.
She put a soft hand on his cheek.  "I won't hurt you," she whispered, "and you can have me."
~~~~~

She picked up her belt, and staring at the view from the penthouse window, she slowly buckled it.  She looked over at the pale sleeping form.  She had not enthralled him other than to prevent pain from her bites.  He had been an enthusiastically willing partner once he realized she really wasn't going to hurt him.  She looked at the nude form on the couch and sighed.  He would be weak for a couple of days, but he'd recover quickly.  He'd filled her needs in may ways.  She grinned at the memory of being so very well filled and sighed again.  She was totally satiated.  Even standing in the moonlight, her fangs were totally retracted and the only urge she had was for sleep.

The night air was refreshing.  Dawn would break soon but she'd be home in plenty of time.  Cindy would be back tomorrow night.  She been gone all week and Eliza had really been "out of sorts."  Tonight was just what she'd needed.

Letting herself out of the apartment, she made her way to the elevator and down to the street. There was the first faint streaks of pink in the sky. She knew that dawn was fast approaching. Eliza had wanted to take a cab home, although, with the dawn so near she knew she’d have to think herself there. Usually she didn’t cut it this close, though this time the reason made her smile again. She hoped there would be more nights like this.  He seemed to enjoy the night as much as she had.

Moving quickly into her building, Eliza made her way to the bank of elevators.  She hoped they be empty at this time of the morning.  Just what she needed, someone seeing her coming home at this hour. Although what business it was of anyone else’s, she didn’t know. She was free, white and well over 21. The doors of the elevator slid open, showing her the car was empty. With a sigh of relief, she went in and pressed the button for her floor.

Opening her door, Eliza made her way into her apartment, moving to draw the drapes over the large window.  The sun was just beginning to show and she closed them just in time. A stab of pain in her eyes, told her she had cut it very close this time.

Moving into the kitchen, she went to the cabinets for Toby’s food. He was prancing around as if he hadn’t eaten in weeks. She knew it was just an act, but it still made her feel guilty of neglecting him. After making sure he had fresh water and his food, she moved down the hall to her bedroom. She was almost fell into bed fully dressed, the overpowering need to sleep almost more than she could bear. Undressing in a hurry, she fell into bed and deeply asleep in moments.

~~~~~
As Cindy was dressing for her job at the library, she was glad it was the end of the week. She was tired of working the two jobs and although the weekend was the busiest time at the club, she’d asked for and gotten this weekend off.  She needed the time off.  What with the attempted attack and working the two jobs, she was just exhausted. It had been a strain, not really knowing anyone, no friends, new to this city. She was so glad she’d met Eliza. Although she was a strange one. She looked so petite and sweet, laughing, she realized Eliza was anything but petite and sweet. Cindy was glad they were friends, she sure didn’t need her for an enemy. There was something about Eliza that drew you to her. She seemed invincible. Yes, that was it, as if she could do anything. Cindy just didn’t understand it.
Finished dressing and putting on her makeup, Cindy made her way out of her apartment. She flagged down the bus she usually caught for work and was on her way. She knew she would be a little early, that was all right though. She wanted to make sure she could find that book she’d seen. Cindy didn’t know why she was drawn to that book, she’d never been into that kind of thing, didn’t believe in it really. She thought those were just stories or myths. She was just confused. She knew she trusted Eliza more than she trusted any person in this world. Why that was she wasn’t sure, but she did.
Cindy was confused though. She knew or thought she knew what she’d caught a quick glimpse of that night. Then there was the strength in that petite and seemingly fragile body. Eliza had sent him flying. She’d heard Eliza’s ribs crack, she’d seen the marks and bruises on her face. She’d known she, herself had been pretty badly banged up. But here, less than a week later, she was totally healed. No bruises, no scars, no nothing. The bruises and cuts were gone almost by the next day. She knew they hadn’t healed on their own, she knew they’d had some kind of help. Eliza hadn’t had any medicine, so how did she do it? So many questions, no answers, yet!
Entering the library, Cindy went straight to her desk. She hoped she’d have a little time to look for what she wanted. There was a long list of things for her to do. It didn’t look as if she’d have much spare time. Well maybe on her lunch hour. She set about putting the books that had been returned on her cart and replacing them on their proper shelves. Soon it would be time to take her turn at the desk. She much preferred working with the books themselves. It gave her the time to be alone. She liked people, but needed the time to herself that working on the floor gave her. With a smile, she cautioned a table of early morning students to be a little more quiet and then moved off.
~~~~~

Mark awoke with a start. Feeling a little woozy, he sat on the side of his bed and remembered the night. With a smile, he thought it had been the best night of sex he’d ever had in his life. She did things and let him do things to her, he’d only imagined. Oh yes, he did want to see her again. He needed to see her again. She’d promised not to hurt him or make him a meal and she hadn’t. But a vampire? Was she truly a vampire? No he didn’t think so. They were probably fake fangs, made to look real. They sure did look real. Moving slowly, he rose from the side of the bed and stumbled his way to the bathroom.

Looking in the mirror, he knew he needed a shave badly. "Geez," he must be coming down with something. He looked a little pale. Suddenly he leaned closer to the mirror and stared.
"Oh my God," he said softly. There, on his neck, were two little marks. They seemed to be healing at a rapid pace. Although he could still see them. There was just a slight spot of dried blood around them. Raising his hand to his neck, he ran his fingers over the marks. Yes, two little puncture wounds. Almost healed as he watched. With a smile, he shuddered a tiny bit. He knew he’d see her again. He had to. He smiled again. She’d left him with a little reminder that they weren’t finished. He hoped they never would be. She was really something. With a laugh, he said aloud, "YEAH A DAMN VAMPIRE!"

He finished shaving, made his way back to the bedroom and stopped dead. Looking around, he thought that if anyone saw the state of this room, they’d think a serious fight had taken place here.  Laughing to himself, he had to agree, a fight had taken place. Not the kind they would think though, but a purely enjoyable one.

Glad today was Friday, he dressed for work. He hoped he’d see her again this weekend. They hadn’t made any plans, but he knew, just knew he’d see her again. She was something special.

~~~~~
Eliza was restless. She was having the strangest dreams again. They were all jumbled. There was Codrin. Why was he in her dream? He was dead, wasn’t he, or was he? She always felt peaceful when she thought of him.  There were Vicki and Jimmy, Christa, Jesse, Cindy and Mark. Jerry paraded through too.  All the people she’d known in her life as a vampire. Chuckling evilly in her sleep, she saw John too. In her dream, she fleetingly wondered if she still haunted his dreams. She hadn’t tried that for a long time. She wondered if she could from this distance. It might be fun to try. Maybe the little worm thought she was gone for good. She’d show him she wasn’t. Payback was such a bitch.
She felt bad about Vicky and Jimmy. She hadn’t told them where or when she was going. It was mostly for their safety but also for her own. She was glad they’d become friends again though. It always hurt to lose a friend.
Christa, oh how she still missed Christa. There was still no answer to her letter so far. She hoped she’d hear soon.  She missed her most of all. They’d had so much fun together. So many things they’d shared. Cindy had taken up the spot of friend when she’d needed one, but she missed Christa a lot.
Tossing restlessly, Eliza thought about Jesse. Only one e-mail from him on the computer. He hadn’t told her where he was exactly. She just knew they were in the same city, somewhere. They had very definitely drifted apart. He seemed pre-occupied long before they had actually left home. Maybe it was just as well. Start over new in a new place. New friends, new life.
Jerry!!! Oh how she still missed Jerry. Her friend, her confidant. She knew he was happy now, although it didn’t make it any better for her. So far there had never been another like him. He’d wanted nothing from her, just friendship. Yes, she would always miss him.
Mark!!! Now Mark had come the closest to being like Jerry. Even though they’d only met once, Eliza saw something in him that reminded her of Jerry. The sex was just about the best she’d ever had. There was a confidence in him that also reminded her of Jerry. Although no one could or would ever take his place, Mark was close. She definitely wanted to see him again.
"Damn it!! Why can’t I have dreams like everyone else. Why do my dreams have to be a trip down memory lane every time.  Why can’t I have these sensuous, sexy dreams like everybody I know", she thought in her dream. She knew she was dreaming, but still.
She drifted deeper into the dream state and as if on cue, started dreaming of what Mark and she would do.
~~~~~

Looking at the clock, Cindy saw there were two and a half hours left to her day. She had taken her turn at the desk. Check out and checked in, it felt like hundreds of books. Now it was time to put the remaining ones back in their proper places. This seemed familiar. Laughing at herself, she thought, "this is how I started my day". Reaching the top shelf she replaced the next to the last book on her cart. Placing the last one, she turned and pushed the cart back to the desk. Leaving her empty cart, she took the last of the return carts and made her way back to the shelves.

Stretching her back, she looked for the last section. Ah there it was.  Maybe she’d also find what she was looking for here.  MYTHS AND MYTHOLOGY, THE OCCULT. She wondered if she’d have to hunt through the index system or would books on Vampirism be here?

Good question, she should have known the answer.
